What is this purple flower? Not native?

The plant is called Cleome or sometimes Spider-flower or Spiderplant. The botanical name is Cleome hassleriana and it is not native. It is from Brasil. There are about 19 species of Cleome and a few are native but Spider-flower is the showiest. You can buy seeds almost anywhere you can buy flower seeds and it is easy to grow. It is an annual but seeds readily and can come back from over wintered seeds
