City Council will get 2009 budget with request for higher funding for ORT

Please click image to Enlarge photo of Phil Pumphrey talking about need for new funding for Ozark Regional Transit.

Dan Coody let Phil Pumphrey introduce the subject, and Pumphrey cited Northwest Arkansas Times stories and letters to the editor and maybe even today's editorial in explaining the need for more money for the bus system.
Coody said the city administration would budget $250,000 for transit to be paid in quarterly installments next year. The city's funding was something like $186,000 for the current year.
Let's hope the mayor can find ways to cut fat out of the budget to meet this major need and not wait for the council to struggle with cuts when the budget comes to that body for approval.
The council shouldn't have to face cutting such essentials to balance the budget.

Your photos enlarge in pretty good resolution. Why didn't you show us a really close one? Afraid to get politician's dirt on your lens?
