Should Edwards have had this story leaked a year ago?

Anyone else wondering about the John Edwards' affair? If he had confessed to this a year ago, would he be the nominee? Is this a ploy to get the vice presidential nomination?

He won't get nominated for anything.
But in some European Union nations there is the position of minister of internal affairs. We may need to make that a cabinet post in the U.S., as well. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have men well qualified for the job.
