One commercial lot, many political signs

Jonah Tebbetts' The Iconoclast blogspot has an item today about the rules for political signs. I agree with Alderman Adella Gray that, during the two months preceding an election, people ought to be able to have signs for all the candidates they strongly support.
And fairness dictates that whatever rules are in force should be enforced on all equally.
In support of Gray's ruling, I submit photos of a blatant violation on a commercial lot on Huntsville Avenue that remained on Wednesday, August 20, 2008.
Multiple business signs and multiple political signs, two for the same candidate, surely violate the letter and intent of the current rules. Few people know the rules, and some have no visible place on their lots to display a sign legally, so the signs are too near the street and within the city right of way by necessity. Others ignore the rules. Let's hope the current sign rules will be widely publicized immediately and that the changed ordinance will be even more widely published when it becomes law.
We don't need ANYONE, resident or official, driving around wasting fuel and polluting the air simply to spot violations. It is a waste of time. But I couldn't ignore some of the violations I have seen after hearing of businesses being told that they couldn't allow even one political sign BECAUSE they have a business sign.
Let's relax and enjoy the election season. There are plenty of things to learn about candidates before voting and too few hours to study.
