Three more wildflower and pollinator photos from Pinnacle Prairie on July 12, 2009

Please click on images to ENLARGE view of Damsel fly in the top photo and a couple of other bugs or insects in the middle and bottom photo. The plant in the bottom photo is Indian hemp, which when it first springs from the ground in April or May shows leaves very similar to those of some species of milkweed. It is not a milkweed and its foliage is not eaten by the monarch butterfly caterpiller. But other species my eat its foliage and many species nectar on its tiny flowers. I wish I could afford to pay an expert to help me find the specific scientific names of all the insects and bugs. The variety on Northwest Arkansas wild spaces is incredible.
