Should such trees and houses on College Avenue in Faytteville, Arkansas, be destroyed for Washington County parking lots?

Hunton is an idiot. He probably thought burning those barns at the Southpass development was a good idea.

Best idea yet is to seize the Fulbright Library building by eminent domain.
With it's easy access and parking in proximity to the courthouse and office spaces to replace the ones the county is renting, it would be the best use for the county's power push.

There were no barns burned at SouthPass. The barns were taken down, hauled off, and disposed of appropriately (much of the material has been recycled by becoming lumber for other projects). The burning that you saw was some of the brush that had grown around the base of the barns. All appropriate permits were obtained.
