Absurd places get deluxe extra-tall curbs; this spot is one where the water previously could run onto rich, dark prairie soil and be absorbed

Please click on images to ENLARGE view of the area of Government Avenue and Greg Avenue, where they meet Prairie Street. Water now will be routed directly though pipe to the Tanglewood Branch of the Spout Branch of the Town Branch of the West Fork of the White River. On the way,the increased speed and amount of water will erode more of the riparian soil and more frequently flood adjacent property. When do we get a riparian ordinance and a low-impact development ordinance dthat will apply to Fayetteville's street department?

What prompted all the work on the one block of S. Government, anyway? They widened a very little-used street, put in big curbs and sidewalks... Who was leaning on them? Or is this just a way to keep the workforce employed? to use machinery and materials? another statistic indicating progress?
