Locust borer may damage a locust tree; but, when it hatches, it becomes a beautiful beetle that is mostly found feeding on goldenrod flowers

Please click on image to ENLARGE view of long-horned beetle on goldenrod on October 10, 2010, at World Peace Wetland Prairie.
Beautiful beetle often found on Solidago (goldenrod) and matching goldenrod in color but easily confused with other insects. See following link to Flickr photos to see 21 or more photos of the yellow and black locust borer or Megacyllene robiniae on the Insect set of photos.
