Epimedium flavum aka Barrenwort: Plant brought from Rye, New York, on Long Island Sound near the Connecticut line a decade ago and finally identified April 16, 2011, when Beth Presley bought a young plant at Farmer's Market on April 16, 2011, and photographer spotted it

Epimedium flava living for a decade near World Peace Wetland Prairie for a decade since Lauren Hawkins brought it from her mother's garden in Rye

Special nearly symmetrical tri-foliate leaf structure easily recognized on Lauren's heritage plant and Beth's new plant

Description of Epimedium (Barrenwort) on pot in which Beth Presley's plant was growing

Beth's plant's leaves small but growing and likely will produce many drooping flowers next spring. Recommended for planting in raised but shady garden or upslope so that tiny flowers can be seen at eye level
