Ignoring region's geology and geography results in many expensive problems

A woman from far away came to Fayetteville to guide the ignorant Arkansas masses toward a perfect future more than a year ago. She talked to lots of people, she said. There were public meetings to share ideas with her and to hear her ideas for our future. One statement sticks in my memory-lapse -prone brain: THINK CHICAGO! she said.
Bella Vista and Eureka Springs and other parts of Northwest Arkansas have been populated by thousands of immigrants from Chicago who spent years THINKING OZARKS before they left Chicago.
They moved to the Ozarks to escape Chicago.
So Thinking Chicago instead of noticing why people leave heavily populated areas and move to NW Arkansas brings constant problems.
Now Washington County faces a big cost overrun for a multi-story parking deck planned to go on the same spot where one collapsed. Wasn't it obvious that building more and bigger wasn't a good idea?

"Construction of the deck halted earlier this year after significant cost overruns were discovered. The contractor found harder than expected rock and voids when drilling piers, officials said," Scott Davis reports in the Northwest Arkansas newspapers.

We expect to hear a discussion and decision on spending a couple of million dollars more than expected on the new parking deck Thursday evening when the Quorum Court meets. Will anyone talk about the geography and geology at that meeting?
