Methodists discuss environmentalism

The good news is that the mud in Lafayette Street gets shoveled back onto the appropriate areas rather than washed into the storm drain by a water-spraying truck as seen in a previous post from a construction site near the UA campus that feeds Tanglewood Branch and eventually joins Spout Spring on the western edge of Walker Park and then flows into the Town Branch of the West Fork of the White River.

Your drive-by photography appropriately protects the identity of men doing the right thing by blurring their faces. Wouldn't want anyone to blame these guys if the big watering truck didn't earn enough and waste enough fuel this week.

OK, you and I both are Methodists. I have seen you at both Wiggins and Central. So why does your headline make it seem that the church isn't being a good steward of the earth? Your second photo shows workers using the correct method of cleaning up the mud in the street. Maybe your message is in your links that include items about Methodists fighting global warming. Do you believe our local churches ought to be stronger in this area?

11:42, you pinned me to the wall. I am modifying the headline. Just wanted to use a headline that would grab someone and you were the one. A lot of people have expressed unhappiness over the destruction of good buildings and big trees by the church, and the links are to point out that many religious groups, including Methodists, are doing things at various levels to show good stewardship toward our only habitat available in all God's creation, as far as we know.
I developed so much of my world view while growing up in Methodist churches that I can't separate that influence from my many years in college and my experience outdoors. Everyone person knows and every experience in a lifetime contributes to one's attitudes.

Who cares what Methodists think?
Real men are Baptists. Think about Bill Clinton and George W. One does the first F, one does the second and the rest just ride wild horses. Methodists just live their faith and don't even have the nerve to tell their congregations how to vote.
Wussies!

You gotta be kidding, anon 1128. Nobody accused Clinton of F, just allowing inappropriate under-desk behaviour in the oval office. W never did any fighting, just sent thousands of people to fight overseas. And I doubt you'd have the nerve to face up to some of the Methodists I know. If you can ride, just show up on the schedule for the rodeo in Springdale next Independence Day! They could have denomination day with teams from all the local churches, mosques, synagogues and whatever else the newly diversified NW Arkansas boasts these days! The winning team gets to lead the closing prayer.

You forgot to mention the Marshallese Orthodox group! They deserve recognition, too!
