Crayfish is a female with several young clinging to her underside. Released unharmed after a couple of minutes of gentle handling.

Aubrey, these are absolutely the most amazing photos I've seen in a while. We have crayfish in our ditch. This makes me want to wait and catch them, look at them and hope to see their young.
