More on Highway Department strange behavior on public notice on Arkansas 16 work at Lake Sequoyah

The pictures you took were on city property and the part of my land where they will be building. you pretty much covered the right area. |

I got a synopsis of the comments made on the middle fork bridge project which included what they did to inform the public of the meeting . . . THEY ADVERTISED IN THE MADISON COUNTY RECORD!!! I remember asking you if you saw the public meeting advertised and you said you didn't, now we know why. What kind of public notice is this where the project is entirely in Washington County and affects a Fayetteville City Park and yet there is no notice in the LOCAL paper of the area affected? I can't believe it! |

Nature can empower a person!!!! 6:30 p.m. March 15 at Fayetteville Public LIbrary
HOW NATURE CAN EMPOWER YOU
Presentation
by
Donald Wleklinski, MS, BSN, RN
University of Arkansas School of Nursing Faculty
6:30 PM March 15, 2012
Fayetteville Public Library
Walker Community Room,
401 West Mountain Street
Free and Open to the Public
Exposure to nature is vital to our physical and emotional health, explains Donald Wleklinski, of the University of Arkansas School of Nursing faculty. He tells how “nature engages your attention in a relaxed fashion with such things as leaves rustling, patterns of clouds, sunsets, a bird, and the shape of an old tree. Nature captures our attention in subtle, bottom-up ways and allows our top-down attention abilities a chance to regenerate.” Natural environments “restore” our attention. Wleklinski’s presentation is well backed up with thorough research and references. He indicates that some of us may suffer from “nature-deficit” and shows how exposure to nature can provide preventative health care and empower everyone, children and adults, both physically and mentally. The presentation will include a period for questions and answers.

Truthout shares the facts that rash limburger tries to hide
Click here to view this and past newsletters online. Please add "messenger@truthout.org" to your email contacts to ensure delivery. ![]() So let me get this straight. Rick Santorum, who we are somehow supposed to believe is a serious candidate for the highest office in the land, thinks people should not go to college because education is somehow a code word for socialist indoctrination. Mitt Romney, another walking joke, was for birth control before he was against it before he was for it before he was against it before he was for it. Rush Limbaugh, the godhead of hate radio and the leader of the modern GOP, wants private citizens who use birth control to film themselves having sex for his personal edification. Meanwhile, the latest polls tell us that fully half of the Republicans in Alabama and Mississippi believe President Obama is a secret Muslim … oh, and they're not quite sold on the legality of mixed-race marriage, either. And that's just for openers, here in the brave new world that is 21st-century America. Call it stupid, call it silly, dismiss it with a disgusted wave of your hand if you wish, but this stuff is being blasted out there in an endless barrage, and after awhile, it sticks. Cretins like Rush Limbaugh not only spew anti-Muslim hatred on domestic airwaves - Limbaugh is a featured program on Armed Forces Radio, reaching the ears and minds of American soldiers fighting a grinding, ceaseless and pointless war in Afghanistan. There has never been a more important time for Truthout to continue the hard work of getting the facts straight, and getting those facts out there past the firewall of nonsense, hatred and flat insanity that passes for news and comment these days. In the midst of continuous, aggressive attacks on Truthout’s website, the outpouring of support from our community this week has been deeply strengthening. We are here because you all keep us here. We’re aiming to reach 1,000 donations by the end of the week, and we’re already almost halfway there - please support our work with a tax-deductible contribution tonight! |

Why Local Food?
Many folks are waking up to how dysfunctional the industrial food system is. What is less-known is how many communities, farms, cities and individuals have developed brilliant and hopeful ways to grow local food systems…sometimes in unexpected directions. That’s what we want to show you with films, classes and conversations. Because once inspired by creative and sustainable solutions—ones that support real farms, real food and local economies—who knows what wonderful things we can accomplish.
